This painting is a view of a garage located in Wyckoff, New Jersey owned by an avid car collector who wanted documentation of his vehicles. The reflecting surfaces of metal and glass afforded me the opportunity to bring this scene to life. I also like the details inside the garage, which give the painting depth and character.

Petunia - South Truro, MA

This is one of 15 identical little bungalows lined up right next to one another in South Truro, Massachusetts located along Route 6A right on the water's edge. These buildings are some of the most charming and quaint structures that I have ever seen. I did a painting of all of them lined up in a row some years back, and it was the very first painting that I ever sold as a young, struggling artist. This location will always have a very special place in my heart.

Glen Rock House

A wonderful home located in Glen Rock, New Jersey that the owner gave to his wife as a birthday gift. They have told me that this will be cherished as a memory of their time raising their family here. These type of paintings that have significant meaning to the homeowner's always give me a great sense of joy and happiness.

Garage - Saddle Brook, NJ

This is a close up view of an old detached garage located in Saddle Brook, New Jersey which was also discovered while riding in the park. I loved the look and feel of the decrepit siding and classic old light fixture, which has recently been taken down and disposed of. This painting gave me the opportunity to use broken brushwork to render the texture of the weathered wood and aging metal and glass.

Wyckoff Avenue House- Wyckoff, NJ

This is an old stone home in Wyckoff, New Jersey that was built sometime in the late 1700's. At the time, these houses were constructed from local stone and other materials and were built up in ascending sections so that the Dutch people who resided there could be closer to God. The house that I currently live in and where my studio is was fashioned after the architecture of this house.

Buena Vista Road House-Wyckoff,NJ

A beautiful old Cape Cod style home located in Wyckoff, New Jersey. I love the symmetry of the facade of this home and the classic red front door. It seems as though the owner has quite a bit of pride in the upkeep and maintenance of this home and I wanted to capture a feeling of pure Americana with this piece.

Mel's House - Fair Lawn, NJ

This is an old home that I also found while riding in the park on the bike. The warm versus cool color scheme works well in this case. I like the feeling of twilight in this painting, which I felt was a metaphor since the owner had passed away not long before this painting was completed. It has since been torn down and I am very glad to have been able to record it's existence in paint and canvas.

Doorway - Fair Lawn, NJ

This is a doorway to an old stone house located in Fair Lawn, New Jersey that I found while riding my bicycle in Saddle River Park. I like the interplay between the warm artificial light and the cool reflected light of the evening sky upon the wooden archway. I think that the open door also adds a welcoming feel to this scene. It is as if you can walk right in and walk up the stairs.

Maine Meeting House- Maine

This is a meeting house in Maine that I found while vacationing there one Winter with my family. We like to drive up the coast, making detours inland along the way to explore the areas and find quaint little places like this for possible subject matter. I was immediately drawn to this historic building as soon as I laid eyes upon it.

Glen Rock Door - Glen Rock, NJ

This is a view of a charming back door of a house located on Rock Road in Glen Rock, New Jersey. I was driving by this location after a bicycle ride, and was instantly drawn to it for it's wonderful strong colors and down home, country feel. I was also very taken with the triangular composition that the milk can, birdhouse and wreath make together. The texture of the clapboards seem to go well against the texture of the brick stairs as well.
